Position Duties and Responsibilites
Rick LaBar, CI, CT, NAD-IV, Candidate for Specialist Certificate: Legal, has been an active member of SDCRID and has served in many different capacities during that time. During the period between 2001 and 2005, Rick served as Co-Chair for the Professional Development Committee and additionally as Board Liaison to the PDC committee while also serving as Vice President. In January of 2007, Rick was appointed to the position of Vice President when the VP at that time had to step down. Currently, Rick is serving out the second year of Kathi Heiser’s term as President. Rick has been a certified interpreter since 1975. He received his interpreter training through the Nat’l Interpreter Training Consortium at CSUN and has worked as an Interpreter Coordinator and a Freelance Interpreter. He has 20 years experience as a court interpreter and has been involved for many years in performing arts interpreting. Rick has been active with the Deaf Blind community since 1988 and currently is serving as Co-Representative for Region V on the National Task Force on Deaf-Blind Interpreting.
